Orvieto (TR) - Sunday, June 4th Feast of Palombella in Orvieto. The festival was established by the Monaldeschi family in the fifteenth century.
Originally it took place in the Cathedral, but since 1845 moved on prospieciente streets to respect the sanctity and security of the Cathedral; by that time, in fact, that the dove is started from the roofs of Saracinelli Faina and Palaces.
It will then since 1940 that the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and Our Lady of the roof of the nearby Church of St. Francis, along Via Maitani on a plane cable.
Today on the occasion of the Day of Pentecost, after 50 days from Easter, to Orvieto we celebrate the religious event with a festival of ancient tradition that evokes a symbolic flight of a dove the Holy Spirit descended upon the Virgin and the Apostles. The course ends with the arrival in the square of the Cathedral, where, for the occasion has set up a large poster to four columns representing the Last Supper.
