Corciano (PG) - With gold and precious colors and good. Perugino Corciano 1513-2013 The five hundred years of Assumption

"With gold and precious colors and good"

A PERUGINO CORCIANO

1513-201

The FIVE HUNDRED YEARS OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE SHOVEL

On 18 December 1512 the parish priest and the mayor of the castle of Corciano, after picking up some of the funds obtained through bequests, they went in the direction of Perugia to enter into a contract with what was believed to be the most important teacher of the moment, Pietro Vannucci, known as "Il Perugino", for the construction of a shovel to ask yourself on the high altar of the parish church dedicated to the Virgin's Assumption into heaven.

This event, 500 years later, it was noted, suggesting some artistic and cultural initiatives and the creation of a postmark. On this occasion it was kicked off the celebrations that will take place inside peruginesche whole year 2013, but which will have its peak in the summer months, inglobandovi August 15, the date on which it took place the solemn blessing of the altarpiece in the day of party entitled to her.

As it did in 2004 on the occasion of the celebrations in honor of the "divine Painter", which culminated in a series of important exhibitions, including one titled "devotional painter Perugino. Models and reflected in the territory of Corciano" held their own in Corciano, even at this crucial stage of historical and artistic importance, the first 500 years of Assumption, the municipal administration of Corciano, next to the parish of Santa Maria Assunta and the Pro Loco corcianese, is in the forefront to remember this important birthday.

The Administration has designed, in collaboration with relevant bodies such as the Superintendence for Historical, Artistic and Cultural Heritage of Umbria, the State Archives of Perugia, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Perugia and the 'Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vannucci in Perugia, the realization of some significant events that worthily commemorate this historical event.

"With gold and precious colors and good"

This is the title of the exhibition that begins with a quote penned by the notary in the contract of Antonio Happy allocation of the Committee to Pietro Perugino, that he subscribes to a salary of 100 florins, and undertakes to carry out a period of eight months .

Other key findings archive are at the basis of supporting the upcoming celebrations, which is the function and importance of the machines altar in churches peruginiesche pre-Council of Trent and, therefore, the role of the frame, as an integral part the work itself, and its creators, the master carpenters.

As in 2004, to make it as complete as possible the offer to scholars, visitors and faithful, it was designed a double itinerary: the first in the parish church, the second in the church-museum of San Francesco.

In the church of Santa Maria, where for 500 years has kept the shovel that has in some way contributed to writing the history of the building itself, the project provides a virtual installation that will reclaim the ancient effigy of the painting before the historical interventions after they cause it to alter structure, adapting it to the new fashions and dictates post-conciliar liturgical.

The reconstruction and projection of the party's architectural wooden wall that framed the table of the 'Assumption of the Virgin and the compartments of the predella were conceived and designed by a multidisciplinary team with the intention of recreating, by means of advanced technology, the setting original altarpiece.

The results of a detailed scientific investigation, conducted with the use of the tools of documentary research and architectural significance, justified the adoption of a scheme tripartite measured by four pilasters of the Corinthian order, in which light from the central arch has a size double compared to the lateral ones. Taking into account the fact that the documentary evidence testify to a height of more limited of the sixteenth-century church, the order is devoid of the entablature and is surmounted by a crown circular segmental arches. The same configuration is detectable in carpentry, framing the Baptism of Christ (1515-1518) of Giannicola of Paul in the chapel of St. John at the Collegio del Cambio in Perugia, made by the same master Antonio Bencivenni from Mercatello.

In the reconstruction, based on the information contained in a contract, took particular emphasis decoration to 'snail', which adorns the fornix and the crowning glory, combined with the other decorative motifs typical Perugino.

The party adopted architectural admits two possible slots for the frames of the 'Annunciation and of the' Adoration of the Child: the base of the main table and the bottom of the two side niches. Making full use of the possibilities associated with the use of video projection, it was decided to alternate the vision of both hypotheses.

The project "projective" (which implies the superposition of the original digital image) involves the use of a multi-screen white canvas at the current frame, in order to minimize the visual changes caused by the morphology of the apse wall . The image of the original configuration of the blade to project, the so-called mapping stage, is deliberately deformed by means of dedicated software for the purpose of applying fixes optical-graphics. The intervention of virtual projection of the reconstruction is configured so as an example of interior visual projection that seeks to reconstruct a spatial configuration is now lost and propose an interaction space with the present nave. New technologies, in this case the media arts, determine a condition that multi-perspective, intermedial and intermodal, with the dual purpose of scientific investigation and artistic performance. The misunderstanding poietic characterizes this type of modeling but at the same time constitutes the gap that feeds the creative research.

To offer the most comprehensive, as the place of worship does not lead to any additional equipment, the project intends to develop the proposed topic within the church-museum of San Francesco.

Here you plan to illustrate the idea of the machines Perugino altar, proposing reconstructions and interpretations in the light of the acquisition of new data and elements.

A second aspect that will be addressed here concerns the restoration. Starting from the last, which involved the painting corcianese in 2003-2004, we trace the history of the interventions until reaching the historic one conducted in 1838 by Giuseppe Carattoli, restorer and copyist distinguished by Perugino.

A critical documentary apparatus will be the corollary to the artistic part.

To make it more tangible as proposed, the exhibitions will be accompanied by a catalog that gathers input from scholars and technicians who treated the various aspects of scientific research.
