Magione (PG) - Throughout the summer, on Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:30 am to 12 will be open spaces containing works by Gerardo Doctors. There is a very close relationship between the territory of Lake Trasimeno, and in particular of Magione, and the work dell'artistai, among the most influential painters of Italian Futurism. This summer, churches and public halls, usually closed to the public, may be freely viewed, even through some lines of local public transport free of charge specifically designed for tourists. A cultural and tourist made possible by an unprecedented collaboration between local associations, parishes and municipal administration of Magione which will cover the capital and the villages of Montecolognola and Monte Sperello.
Will therefore open spaces containing the following works of Gerardo Doctors: boardroom in the Town Hall of Magione, with the cycle of frescoes dedicated to the area and the famous panel depicting the encounter between Fra 'Giovanni da Pian di Carpino and the Great Khan of the Mongols, the church of San Cristoforo in Monte Sperello, with the painting dedicated to the saint, the church of Santa Maria Annunziata in Montecolognola, with inside the chapel of Saint Lucia entirely frescoed by futurist master, the parish church of St. John the Baptist in Magione, with several works made in the period 1948/49 including the angel's Annunciation to the Virgin Mary, Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River and the appearance of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque.
The Department of Culture has prepared a paper brochure dedicated to the path in the coming days will be available at branches and at places of tourist visit.
