In Perugia, from Friday 30 to Sunday, June 1st international conference will be held on study Peregrinatio studiorum compostellana -20 years of history and pilgrimage (1994-2014) in Italy and in Europe.
The conference aims to introduce and analyze how they have been treated over the past 20 years, the main issues related to the pilgrimage Compostelan, seen in its complexity and its interrelationship with other pilgrims. In this sense, it represents a continuation of the one held in 1994 in Pistoia-Altopascio.
It will consist of an analysis that regards the research developed in the last twenty years and, in special cases, also the depth of issues that were not addressed specifically at the conference of Pistoia, as studies on Codex Calixtinus that will be seen in their complexity and development, or on pilgrimages to the Holy Land or Monte Sant'Angelo.
Given the fact that it is the anniversary of the pilgrimage of St. Francis in Santiago particular emphasis will be given to the Franciscan historiography concerning his trip to Spain.
The conference will be divided into specific interventions or roundtables on specific issues.
You want to finally give an insight into the culture compostellana which has developed in recent years in Europe and in the world through study centers, magazines, libraries, archives, associations between pilgrims and initiatives.
It is expected, as a result, an in-depth analysis of the main historiographical trends gained over the years, in order to form a useful basis for interventions that the current revival of pilgrimages require an institutional level.
Will be essential to the production of Acts that will become, like its predecessors, inescapable point of reference for further study on the issue.
