Summer Symposium on the history of social conflict

Magione (PG) - Stories project in motion (Sim) & "Zapruder. Moving stories. Journal of the history of social conflict" organize the Ninth Symposium on the history of social conflict summer 25 to 28 July 2013 at 'Hotel "The lake as a cloud" in Monte del Lago
The symposium was established within the association Stories on the move as an opportunity for discussion and debate which joins the magazine "Zapruder." Original experience in a landscape increasingly feeble, the symposium is designed as a laboratory which aims to put into communication through different places and subjects which make the production of historical knowledge. Free and circulate knowledge into a space for discussion and horizontal common criticism: this is our political gamble.
The symposium is imagined in many dimensions. During the four days we will face different historiographical joints in a rare opportunity for interdisciplinary discussion where, however, the collective elaboration of knowledge is never separated from its political dimension but also playful: in fact we will gather in an ideal setting, surrounded by nature and with access to a accommodation usually created to entertain. In this sense, the symposium is an opportunity to meet, discuss and have fun.
This year's symposium opens with a dialogue of international played on the tension between "change" and "revolution" that crosses the theoretical practice of feminist movements and LGBTQI. The evening will instead be the moment of "dream fight" with music by Marco Rovelli. On Friday, we will focus on the twentieth century in two different dialogues: the morning on the topic of imagination and images that make up the fabric, while the afternoon tematizzeremo a comparison between European nationalism. On Saturday morning will be dedicated to the first edition of an annual workshop on sources which begins this year with a reflection on the use of interviews in ethnographic research. On Saturday closes with a dialogue that explores the concept of "class" from a recent book by Andrea stands. On Sunday, as every year, we'll say goodbye with a meeting of all the people who took part in this year's symposium.
