Terni (TR) - The XXV INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TRAVEL GUIDE will take place on 22 and February 23, 2014 with the theme "From Dinosaurs to Picasso with the tour guides for discovering the museums of the city."
Saturday, February 22, at 17 Paleolab (paleontological collections of the Museum of Umbria Southern) Largo Liberotti, 24 - Terni A tour guide of the Cultural NahArti and a paleontologist of the Societa Cooperativa Kairos lead the public to discover this small but important city museum Completely renovated in setting following the reopening in 2012. The Museum housed in the former church of St. Thomas, decorated with frescoes dating from the twelfth and fifteenth centuries, building of great historical significance for being here, in the Middle Ages, the meetings of the parliament of the city of Terni. The nave of the church houses a rich collection of fossils and remains of mammals found in the deposits of ancient rivers and especially in the basin of prehistoric Lacus Tiberinus. With the new layout, and we wanted to give a purely didactic exposure: there are in fact exposed to life-size reconstructions of a deer, a hyena and a saber-toothed cat and a complete skeleton of a female deer. A part of the route and interactive (geological materials), while paleontological finds are displayed in glass cases accompanied by illustrated panels.

- Archaeological Museum, with the precious artefacts from the Bronze Age and the Roman period, including the beautiful funeral Necropolis steelworks, the votive bronzes of the Shrine of Torre Maggiore, the large inscriptions and sculptural fragments of the glories of testimonials 'old town hall of Interamna. - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art "Aurelio De Felice," where and kept a large collection of works of art that bears witness to the splendours of some artistic seasons as the Renaissance (with paintings by Benozzo Gozzoli, Piermatteo of Amelia, Niccolo Pupil, as Spain), the era of the Grand Tour (seen through the eyes of Corot, author of a fine view of Marmore), the twentieth century (with the naive art of Orneore Metelli, the historical avant-garde European collection De Felice, the currents of the postwar period represented by artists such as Gauli, Montanarini, Turcato, Tomato, Pizzi Cannella, etc.).
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Free admission for residents of the municipality of Terni (for non-residents: full ticket, valid for all three museums, Euro 5 reduced ticket, Euro 3.50). Participation is allowed up to a max of 40 people, the order of arrival establishes the right to participate in the visit, and if the turnout is greater, will conduct a second round of visit (if possible, we will repeat the visit or allow alternative entry without accompanying guides to allow all interested parties the use of museums).
